It's been awhile...
2007-10-23
Hi all,
been gone from here for quite a bit. got a bad lung infection that kicked my ass & made it a bit hard to breathe for a few weeks. finally got on some drugs that are doing the trick. i am trying to stay inside alot right now though due to all the smoke from the fires out here.
hope everyone else is doing good!
had stress...now relaxed
2007-07-16
So, had a busy busy week last with work. I did 37 hours in 4 days and I am not a salaried manager
I ended up getting the one straight serving shift they had given me this week away as to have a FULL & COMPLETE day off from work! See I am to have the next two days off, however, we have our weekly manager's meeting in about 30 minutes. That takes about 2 hours of my "day off" . Then Tuesday I have so many new people I needed to schedule an orientation in the evening as it was the best day & time to get one done. So no real day off in actuality for this week....which is why I SO enjoyed yesterday!!
It was my friend Todd's birthday on Sat., had a nice BBQ for him here at my house. Everyone brought a ton of food and beer ( I still have a fridge full ) and good times were had by all. Sunday I got to see some friends from out of town that I hadn't seen in months. All in all I had a fabulous weekend. Hope you all enjoyed yours!

projects
2007-07-10
So, I am off work today and it is time to play catch up woth all my household projects!
The not so fun stuff like dishes, laundry and cleaning the bathroom.
After that though I do have a fun one, I am going to re-cover my couch & chair in my living room. Got some really nice fabric on the clearance table at my local fabric store...just $3 a yard, sweet eh? So, the whole project is going to cost me less than $150 for the price of the furniture & re-doing them in the exact fabric I want. Of course there is my time in the sanding and staining I did already, but still. I am feeling good about that! Custom for me, by me...haha
Ok, off to start cleaning so I can do the more fun projects....
xoxox
they charge for everything these days...
2007-07-05
so i go to get rid of the long distance and other things i never use on my land line. which i really keep for everyone else's needs, not mine. they are going to charge me to delete the services that i am taking off? does that make any sense? oh, you don't want this...you need to pay a disconnect fee to stop using what you never use then! crazy stuff man!
fireworks
2007-07-04
so in the end i got to see some fireworks...the small town in which i live doesn't do a show. the next town over does, and if it is clear you can see them from our pier. we HAD hopes of this, but alas the fog rolled in just before dusk and no go on that. some friends however bought some and after dark we went down to the beach and lit a bunch of ones off. was fun, reminded me of being a kid. it is leagl to do this here...just be polite and pick up after yourself is basically all the harbor people ask of you. we did!! so my 4th is complete and i am off to bed...hope everyone had a fabulous day, regardless of how it was spent.
xoxox
happy 4th
2007-07-04
hope you all have fun no matter what you do!
enjoy the day

so you think you can dance
2007-06-28
Does anyone waych this show? I am semi-addicted I will admit, find it to be much more entertaining than Idol. Was quite sad tonight to have a couple of my fave dancers be sent home. The amount of talent on there this season is making it hard...really...it is like there is not any bad ones to cull out!
haha
dreamer?
2007-06-26
Imagine there's no Heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world
You may say I'm
a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one
so, i think this is one of the best songs ever...love it. watched the news today and it depressed me as usual. after all the years and the world is no closer to being able to get along, maybe never will be able to, but the idea is sure a lovely one.
so until then i'll join john lennon in being a dreamer...anyone else want to come along?
summertime...
2007-06-26
I adore summer.
The smell of the ocean, suntan lotion, BBQ's...it is all so yummy.
I had the best couple of days off this week. I had a cocktail at my local bar with friends, then we all hit my friends pool for the first time of the season. The boys played poker poolside while Steph & I swam. Add some ice cold newcastles, burgers and some tunes into the mix and it was a just about perfect time! I had to go to the dentist and run errands today. The not as fun stuff like do laundry, buy groceries and do dishes. I balanced that though with sushi for lunch and some mindless tv watching!!
It was like a mini vacation I swear
Plus next week my mom is coming to visit and I get 3 days off, though
not all in a row, I'll still take it!!
Happy summer to all
woohoo, I lived thru it....
2007-05-27
So, the worst of the weekend is over and I have survived to work another day! There were hoards of drunken stupid people at the bar after beer fest on Sat. I had one quick drink and couldn't handle the stupidity of the masses and had to leave.
Today I was a manager/server and worker outside on our patio. It was sunny, thus we got busy! Made some good money...gonna be able to make my car payment this month after all ( woohoo ) just tired my lil body out for sure.
Everyone was shocked that I didn't stay after to have cocktails today. I said, people I have one more day of work to get thru...one drink is good. I need a meal and sleep! It has been a full week since my last day off and I have put in 45 hours or so in the past 6 days. So off to soak my bosy in the tub, eat a lil bit of mocha chip ice cream and then blessed sleep for me! Hope everyone is having a fabulous Memorial weekend!!!
weekend from hell...no really!
2007-05-25
So this weekend is the flat out busiest one for the year that our restaurant has. The local golf resort hosts a "beer festival" on Sat. that sells out in no time flat...and the people who can't go to get just come to our bar! The ones who can go to it, then come to our bar after!! Plus it is already Memorial weekend so EVERYONE is off from school, work, everything and ready to play. Then on Sun. the same place hold a "Blues Festival" so it is just madness for our bar & restaurant. Now as I am managing on Sat. I should have a tom of fun ; )
Sun. I get to play server and make some tips off of all those people too, which never hurts!
I prepared myself last night by going to Border's, getting a good trashy book...grabbing some sushi & kicking back with all of that at home. Got a full 7 hours of sleep and I think I might even be ready for all the fun that is about to come my way...I can hope at least right?
hope you all enjoy your weekends!
the best....
2007-05-23
Last night my friend Steph came over to watch our "late" finale of heroes. She doesn't have cable so she gets her fix thru me ( haha ). We made a whole night of it, which is always the best! A bottle of good local red wine ( Tobin James Syrah - a personal fave! ) and an assortment of Trader Joe's appetizers.
We had a nice night just being casual and girlie, watching our sappy sad ending to the season, then chatting about all the good and bad stuff going on in our lives right now. I think some times we get so crazed with all of our "have-to-do" stuff that we don't have little nights like this....and they are so needed!
I think once a month we will get together at either her place or mine and just hang out like that. It is way cheaper than going out, we can wear our sweats if we want to even!! Plus I feel like we got a real chance to connect as we were not around a bunch of other people or having a server or bartender come ask if we needed anything. Not that I don't enjoy our nights our at said bars & restaurants, but it is so nice to have those more ....oh yes i am SO going to say it " quality " times!
haha
tv shows...heroes & idol!
2007-05-22
So, Idol is on tonight, but I'll be tivo'ing it & not watching as I had to miss the finale of "heroes" last eve due to work. Got some friends coming over in a lil bit for wine, munchies & the show!!
So am thinking as far as idol goes that it will be Jordin...what say those that watch?
hhhmmmm?
we will see tomorrow!
having a life : )
2007-05-22
So i find that if you actually have a life outside of this site, and don't post for a few days you lose all of your value. I dropped off completely...went from being in the top 20 to not even listed. If I truly cared about such things I might even be upset, but I guess the value that the people that see me in my day to day life is just of more importance to me!
It is all such a bit of perpsective for me.
Isn't it just nice to know that we matter to those around us...that we are of some value, loved, cared for, all of it. As humans we thrive of the love of others, our family, friends and significant others give us that love that feeds us and makes us stronger. Some us add to it by the people and friends we have made on here. So to all my shoutpost friends that I have dropped away from in my busy past weeks...thanks!
You guys rock!
concert fun...
2007-05-21
Had a blast this past friday going to see a great show locally.
Robert Randolph & the Family Band
and
Ziggy Marley
it was fabulous...best of all it was within walking distance from my house.
My friend works at the venue so I got in for free, plus on top of that she was working the beer truck so we only had to tip for beer! Which were $10 for a 32 oz. so for $15 we had 5 of those...good deal on our part for sure
got some amazing pics as we got nice and close to the stage for Ziggy, this was my third time seeing him...for those who enjoy reggae music, he puts on a lovely show!

we life in a CRAZY world!
2007-05-12
So this week this guy that lives here in my area got into a bar fight and due to what resulted from this action is now about to be tried for murder. What in the world in the first place drives you to settle a disagreement by stepping outside and using force...over a DAMN pool game in a F*@king bar? I was not there and no one saw what happened so it is completely unknown as to what transpired. Some say that the guy that he hit fell into the curb and thus that is what did it. Other people said that he hit his head on purpose into the curb...I honestly don't care how it happened! The point here is that one live has been lost over this...a guy my age who had a wife...kids...and is now not living. Then the guy who is being charged with the crime, he has a child, and he is looking at years in prison now. Over some anger at a game in a bar....or some smart remark tossed around at a bar? Damn people, what the hell is going wrong in our world? It just makes me sad all around!
weekend road trippin'
2007-05-03
my new car is getting her first chance at a road trip this weekend! I am going south to san diego to see some friends and family : )
oh so very excited about it all...time off from work...more than one day even! seeing my mom for the first time in 5 months. getting to party on cinco de mayo with all my crazy friends down south too. it is like all the best in 3 days. plus a road trip with new tunes in my sweet lil cherry darlin'
woohoo
hope everyone else has as much fun as I plan on having
; )

work-out fun...oh it is a lie!
2007-05-01
So my friend takes me to a class at the gym last week.
She says "It will be FUN!!!!"
Now I am one of those people who does not find working out to be fun, good for me yes, fun no!
So we go, and fun it was not. It did however kick my ass in a very good way and I will go back and take it again tomorrow. If I can continue on this path I might even feel good about appearing in public in a two piece swimsuit this year ( haha )
This morning I am off to try the yoga class. Did pilates yesterday, nice and relaxed movements....but oh boy do you feel the burn on them!
Hope everyone has a lovely day .

xoxox

so my computer and this site can not seem to get along today. i posted earlier and found that you can't do a slide show...fine, so I did it the standard way. it showed up with my two pics in it. Then I came back just now and they do not exist? How very random this is...does anyone else have these issues or am I just having trouble with my computer all around today. It qas being a major pain as I was making a CD earlier too. Keep telling me that it could not find the artist, I don't care if you don't recognize my crazy musical taste, just burn it onto my disc for me...I love technology...really I do.
So here again are a couple of car pics...if they come thru...great! If not...sorry peeps!
my lil baby is a cutie though, and gets 30-38 MPG...woohoo

small words...
2007-04-19
Bless you
Thanks
Have a great day
I love you
Please
These little words and phrases we hear sometimes alot in our day to day life. Ever stop to think how some days just our saying them to one person can brighten up their day. We concentrate so much on the horrible things going on in this world, the shootings at schools, talk show hosts being stupid, etc! Focus in on the intrinsic good of people and spread a little happiness in your world today. I had two people send me emails or texts today that just made me smile. This made me want to pass that good feeling on. So today, when you get the chance...give someone who looks like they need it a smile. Take that extra second to say thanks to the checker at the grocery store or the server at the restaurant you have dinner at. You might enjoy and they will for sure! Have a fabulous day my sweet friends : )

a new car...no way!
2007-04-12
hi all~
Just thought since I have shared all of my sad lil car dramas with you I should share my newest GOOD news!!! I am about to be the proud owner of a brand new car. As in fresh off of the lot NEW car, teehee. It is a Honda Fit in the lovely Milano red shade. I will be heading down to L.A. on Monday to pick it up! This is my very first ever new car...so I am a bit excited about it. The idea of a worry free vehicle that will not spit fire or need to be in the shop is amazing! I am sure at some point soon I will have pics to share : )
Just wanted to tell all of my friends on here.

silly dramas of life...
2007-04-05
So, a friend of mine recently had his girlfriend break up with him. She then went and "dated" a friend of his. Now isn't there some unwritten rule in both sexes that you don't do this? She seemed to be quite confused as to why everyone in our circle of friends was mad at her. O.K. I know we are all in our 30's now and we should (SHOULD) be more mature, but feelings are feelings. When they get hurt you react a certain way. It is hard to not be upset when you see someone that you cared about, whom just said they did not want to be with you....with another person. Worse to have that person be someone you know. I am friends with all involved, tried really hard not to take sides, however you know this NEVER works!!! You are always closer with one than the other. For me in this case it was the guy that got broken up with. I just think better communication and care of feelings could have been used for all involved. Now I am only speaking to the guys, not the girl, her choice...she choose to make herself not be a friend. I am O.K. with it though, if she came back and said she could see where she went wrong and made some effort to apologize. I don't see though that she is aware at all of it.
Just needed to vent a little to people not invloved in it all.
thanks guys...
oh what a night....some humor!
2007-03-26
ok, so can I just say that I have the most interesting nights every time I go into downtown ? I went out a lil coworker's 21st...midnight at Black Sheep, with stops at ( I think the order is as follows ) Frog & Peach, The Library, Mother's, DTB oh yeah that was the end for me...it WAS closing time after all?
My night however did not end there.
Oh no the fun had just begun!
See I had parked in front of Black Sheep, so went to go home, doing a lovely 3 point turn no less, and some guy chases after my car saying you're leaking fluid...oh wait it gets even better!
When I look back someone has thrown a match or cig down into said fluid...and it is gas...so big ass flames are up in the street...from MY F@&*N CAR!!!!!
So I drive about a block until I can pull over and try to figure out what the chatta I am going to do? All I can say is thank goodness I had driven far enough away that the flames didn't go into my car
; )
Looking for some small bright spot at this point, ok?
So then the nice bright light of Mr. Policeman is in my mirror!
He pulls up and asks to see my I.D.
Then I got to give my very first ever breathalyzer...good thing I only had a drink while out downtown is all I gots to say! woohoo, that is one test I wanna get a LOW ASS score on.
I also had to blow into it twice as I didn't have my silly inhaler and could get a deep enough breath the first time...haha. love that asthma don'tcha?
So then the fire truck pulls up to clean up the gas that has leaked from my car. Oh yes, this was a BIG event for the good people of SLO police & fire man. teehee. Plus I provided entertainment for the drunken people outside of Mother's who were sitting and waiting for a taxi! Got a tow truck to come get me before their cab ever came too. So it appears after all was said and done that some silly piece of clamp came loose on my gas line and that is what caused all this major drama at 2 am!
It did make for an interesting way to end my night...and a funny lil story for you all to read, eh?

The American Dream
Actors, authors, astronauts and others ponder the national promise.

What is the American Dream?
An excerpt from Forbes magazine on-line
Robert B. Reich, former U.S. secretary of labor, is professor of public policy at the University of California at Berkeley, and author of 11 books, including the forthcoming Supercapitalism .
What is the American Dream?
The American dream is the determination to continue dreaming even when reality keeps threatening to wake you up.
Harry Shearer may be best known as an actor in films like This Is Spinal Tap and for his voice work on The Simpsons . But he is also the author of a novel, Not Enough Indians, and host of satirical radio program, Le Show, which is produced and distributed by public radio station KCRW-Santa Monica.
What is the American Dream?
The American Dream is to take anything difficult and labor intensive and make it easy and convenient. Whether it's cooking or war, the version we all crave is the one that's easy and convenient. It's working well, don't you think?
Oliver Stone is an Academy Award-winning film director whose credits include Platoon, Wall Street, Born On The Fourth Of July, World Trade Center and others.
What is the American Dream?
The American Dream is, despite its personal tragedies, a great experiment in the concept that freedom for the self can benefit the freedom of others.
Actor John Leguizamo won an Emmy Award for the Spike Lee-directed presentation of his Tony-nominated Broadway solo show "Freak," and has received accolades for his performance in movies including Moulin Rouge. He recently penned an autobiographical memoir, Pimps, Hos, Playa Hatas and All the Rest of My Hollywood Friends.
What is the American Dream?
The American Dream is full of loopholes and contradictions, but America is still the only place where you can start with nothing and end up having everything ... however, there are some rules. Be sure to be self-made, but come from a good family. Or, it's even better if you come from humble beginnings and make it huge; but then let us knock you down so we can build ya up again. It's anything goes--as long as you are successful. And you can't be too successful as long as you are humble and make everyone feel you are equal.
Mel Brooks is a director, producer, writer, actor and the creator of such comedy film classics as Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein. Brooks is one of only seven artists/entertainers to earn all four major entertainment prizes--the Tony, the Emmy, the Grammy and the Oscar.
What is the American Dream?
When I was a little kid 50 years ago, in 1946, I had just got out of the Army after two years fighting in the war. The American Dream was a house and a car.
Today, the American Dream is winning American Idol. It's changed slightly.
In another 50 years from now, when the economy collapses and everything is in threads and torn, the American Dream then, in 20-whatever, will be a house and a car.
Tom Brokaw was the sole anchor and managing editor of NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw for 21 years, and won every major award in broadcast journalism, including two DuPonts, a Peabody award and several Emmys. He is the author of three best sellers: The Greatest Generation, The Greatest Generation Speaks and An Album of Memories .
What is the American Dream?
To me, the American Dream is the freedom to choose to live how and where you want, to determine how you'll be governed and to provide your children with even more choices than you had.
Arianna Huffington is the co-founder and editor-in-chief of the Huffington Post, a news and blog site. She is also a nationally syndicated columnist, author of 11 books and co-host of Left, Right & Center, public radio's popular political roundtable program.
What is the American Dream?
The American Dream used to be a house with a picket fence, a good job, the thought that the next generation will always be better off than the last, and the idea that anyone can grow up to be president of the U.S. (unless they were born in Greece. Or Austria). But that's all changed.
The American Dream 2007 is a fevered hope that the health insurance premium doesn't double again, the factory doesn't relocate to China, Congress doesn't slash Pell grants again (making it even harder for your kid to go to college), the shiver-up-your-spine thought that the next generation will have a rude awakening when the national debt and Social Security bills come due, and the idea that anyone can grow up to be president of the U.S.--so long as their last name is Bush or Clinton.
Dr. Stephen R. Covey is the author of several acclaimed books, including The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People , which has sold more than 15 million copies in 38 languages throughout the world. He is co-founder and vice chairman of FranklinCovey, a global professional services firm with offices in 123 countries.
What is the American Dream?
For me the essence of the great American Dream is spiritual. I believe that our Constitution is inspired and that it is based on principles that are timeless and universal. This is the reason why 95% of all written constitutions throughout the world are modeled after our Constitution.
Not only does our country represent the liberty and freedom of people to live and think and speak as they choose, it also is a country governed by the rule of law and has a Supreme Court, which is commissioned to interpret all laws within the constitutional context. Even though history books talk about the compromises that were made in Philadelphia, I personally believe that the Constitution is the most synergistic, magnificent document produced by the hand of man, and it has institutionalized the values contained in the Declaration of Independence, even though they are not yet fully enculturated.
Some of the marvelous fruits, which have been produced through our founding, include the most safe and prosperous country in the world. A little over 5% of the world's population produces almost 29% of the world's goods and services. It's also the most generous country in the world, and the unleashing of human potential has created, however imperfectly, a volunteering civil society that in some way focuses on most every flaw, defect and problem. The spirit of America has nurtured responsibility and community unlike any other country.
Our challenge is to celebrate our diversity, to use our freedoms more responsibly and to subordinate selfishness, hedonism and materialism to the higher spiritual values of faith, family and community partnering in enabling everyone to share in these roots and fruits.
lay yourself bare ( not about SEX! haha )

every so often you have a moment when you lay yourself bare to another person. not thru the act of actually being physically naked, but thru sharing something so deeply personal of yourself. you give of your deepest thoughts and emotions...and all you want from them is to listen. perhaps give you some response, but not any validation. you are looking for them to see this piece of you, to know you better than they had before that moment. to be more aware of the you that is under the shell that hides and protects you from the world. perhaps to gain more respect for your ability to be honest of your feelings & willingness to share them.
poem I LOVE!!!!
2007-03-21
i will
dance naked
when i first
learn
to walk...
and there
will be
a rainbow of light
colors
to blind
the binding minds
the closed hearts
of the men and women
who said
"never"
i will not
simply walk
but
fly
with wings of gold
woman
warrior
feeling with a heart
the fineness of the journey
and dancing naked
at the edge of dawn
is the gate
that moves my soul
into the endless
realm
of possibility

I love this poem, it speaks of the ability of women to just be open to what the world can hold for them. Just the imagery in it gets to me...I hope that others enjoy it also!
words vs. feelings...
2007-03-19
So, I am sure we all have them, those days where we are just not up to being "perky" or "happy" , we just want to simply "be". I am glad that today was my day off from work. I responded to a post on myspace ( yes it is an evil lil addiction that I give into ) earlier and I guess my poor mood came thru in my writing! One of my friends wrote to ask if I was ok? I did think it was sweet, but it made me wonder if we are all as poor at hiding things in our communications. We think that if we write rather than talk we can hide how we might feel. I think though, we manage to use words or phrasing which shows the true way in which we feel and lets that other person know what we really feel. Even if we might not wish for them to. The written word is every bit as powerful as the spoken one, sometimes I think it can be more so as there is no one to respond to. My mood has actually gotten better since I put my post up, but I see no point in making any changes or comments to it, it is how I felt at the very moment that I wrote it. Life is about the moment and the action as they happen...breath and let them happen!
Pieces...
2007-03-14
Ever stop to think about how the people in your life all see just pieces of you. Honestly think on it for a minute. Each person in your life sees you in a different way. Your parents see you as the child they raised, always seeing a piece of the child you were in their eyes when they look at you, no matter what age you are now. Your friends know you in a way that is miles away from how your boyfriend or husband does. Each person in your life has this tiny glimpse of you. Are their people in your life that are actually lucky enough to get the whole you? If so do they really get and accept all of you? The goofy, silly, quirky bits that sometimes don't even make sense to you? I was thinking about this the other day when my best friend was here as we go back to when we were 11. For 2 girls friendships, that is a long time to remain friends and have lifestyles as diverse as we do. She is happily married to her HS sweetheart while I am single. She has 3 children ranging in age from 15- 8 while have none. Yet we make time for each other, sharing all our important details of out lives with each other. Though I am sure there are things that as close as we are, her husband knows that I do not. Does this bother me? No, not really. The reason why is that while I might not see that piece of my best friend I know her as a whole, and that whole is part of the person that makes me whole...and that is enough for me. I know that at this point in time there is no one in my life that has the whole me down, but someday there might be....and the idea of that makes me smile.
cravings...
2007-03-14
So, I went shopping yesterday for groceries and was bombarded by the display of Easter candy. Now I am a major chocolate lover, so of course I stopped to browse at the selection. Wow, did you know that your kid or sweetheart can now have the choice of a caramel, marshmallow, peanut butter or plain chocolate bunny? Too many choices in something that used to be as simple as grabbing a little bunny and running! Then there are the eggs, and jelly beans, and grass in colors that will NEVER be seen in nature. Now having said all of this, I did buy a couple of items. My poor brother and his roomie would just be sad if they did not get a lil something for Easter and Christmas...and it has become my job somehow to be that girl who does it. I however seem to get the short end of the stick as I don't get any of it. So I decided this year I was buying myself some good stuff.
Something more along the lines of this....
Now, doesn't that chocolate look yummy? Off to See's I will go and get a treat of some sort just for me as it gets closer. I have been cutting out all of this junk food, but I refuse to give up my dark chocolate. They say it is quite good for you too! That is my story & I am SO sticking to it : )
HWY 1 Road trip...
2007-03-13
Did a sweet road trip with my out of the area friends last Sat. up the coast from my town to Big Sur on HWY 1. The weather could not have been better, clear as a bell and 75. We stopped along the way just past San Simeon to see the elephant seals.

Also along the way are some gorgeous spots that honsetly just take your breath away. You come around a corner to a view like this...

Not too bad, eh? I was lucky enough to be the passeneger in the front seat for the whole trip up and back. Usually I am driving : ) So I loved it!! We went to one of my favorite restaurants near Big Sur, a place called Nepenthe. If you get the chance to come out here and do the drive, try to stop there...they have an amazing view, great food too. Anyways I promised to share the best of my pictures with my friends on here so I hope you all enjoyed looking at them as much as I did taking them!

my town
2007-03-12
So, my friends came to visit me this weekend from out of the area, one from So. Ca, one from Las Vegas. It was nice to be able to show off what I feel is the special place in which I live. My town is a small beach town, there are not too many of these left here in Ca. The population is about 500 or so in the actual town itself. We have no gas station, bank or police. We have a small grocery store, one restaurant/bar ( where I work! ) and # hotels. The fire dept. is handled by CDF just outside of town. It is in some ways a blast from the past and in others moving rapidly towards the future in the amount of building and change that is happening. We were blessed with some beutifulweather this weekend though and I have a couple older pics of where I live that since I have finally figured out how to put pics in posts, I thought I would share!
When I get the others from our road trip up to Big Sur done I'll post those too....

this is a boat from the harbor that broke lose and crashed into the rocks winter of 2005.

view from the north end of the beach looking back towards the town.

sunset at night from my front porch....yes I do know that I am blessed!
picture attempt # 3!!!

So thanks to my friends on here I was able to get a pic in my post I hope...

this was the picture I was ATTEMPTING to post before! it is the view from under my pier 3 blocks from my home. the water was so clear and green that morning. it was just so peaceful and beautiful to experience that I wanted to share it with you guys!

2007-03-12
ok so I give...I tried twice and it didn't work to show you so I poted it as my image for now. Maybe someone who is more tech savvy on this site can tell me how to post the pics in the post?
thanks!!!

road trippin with friends
2007-03-12

So my best friend came this past weekend, which is why I was MIA.
This picture is from the pier in my adorable lil town. We took a lil walk out on it after breakfast, going down under to the buddy dock and looked at all the gorgeous starfish on the pilings. It is amazing to see this whole other living world that exists beneath the surface of the sea. we then took a drive up the coast along HWY 1 to Big Sur. I will post more pics from this tomorrow when I pull them off of my camera. The weather could not have been better, clear, sunny and 75! Gosh I love Ca.
Hope you all had a nice weekend!
friends..
2007-03-06
This weekend after a long stretch of 11 days of work I get to have 4 days off. The best part of it is that my very best friend in the whole wide world is coming to visit me! Do you have a friend that just gets you? Knows all your good, bad and everything and likes you anyway? Yeah she is that kind of friend. We have known each other since we were 11...that makes 24 years of solid friendship now and I don't see it changing anytime soon. I love my girl so much. We could not be more different though in how our lives turned out. She got married right out of High school, had three kids with her HS honey. I am single with no kids and went to college, but left just shy of my degree. We talk every week, sometimes everyday. About big stuff, little stuff and sometimes nothing at all. She is the first to hear all the things in my life...I just simply adore her. I hope everyone is blessed enough to have such a fabulous friend in their lives : )
Have I mentioned how excited I am to get to see her?

Trying...
2007-03-02
Ok...so I am trying very hard to stay in a positive mind frame here. Got a call from my mechanic in regards to my car. It seems that the $1000 I just spent to get it up and running again will do only that. It makes it go, but alas only barely. There is some damage of sorts to the cylander? Yes you can tell my long ago class in HS of auto shop taught me the very basics of auto ownership. I can tell you where the major engine parts are and can my own oil & tires thank you very much! However this bit of mumbo jumbo in relation to the rest of what had been wrong...replacing my water pump, radiator, resurfacing the heads and replacing various hoses & gaskets means very little to me. All I know is the car may run rough, but it runs. Now how long it will run is the big picture. See I need it to last me thru this year. Just for my local get around driving, groceries, to the gym, etc. So that I can save up for the car I really want. Do I know even what this is yet you ask? Heck no, but I know it will be newer and less likely to spend hours upon hours visiting my favorite mechanic! Hope your car is snug in it's garage and not your mechanic's like mine is at the moment : )

float or paddle?
2007-03-02
Ever feel like there are times in your life were you need to decide if you should just continue to float or if it is time to start paddling? In many ways I have an ideal life, live within blocks to the beach, my job and many of my friends. Yet in many ways I am not challenaged at all in my daily life. I have no need to paddle as it were. I can simply drift along, floating happily on the course my life is taking. Many would say what is wrong with this? Most of the time I think there is nothing at all, then every once in a while I wonder. Should I be pushing myself harder to do more? Is there something I might be missing by nature of simply floating versus paddling? Do any of you every feel like this about your path in life or are you happy with your choice of either the paddle or float of which you have chosen!
Fickle World
2007-03-01
Wow, get sick and don't post for a few days and you drop completely off the radar! Thanks to the people who missed me, it is always nice to be missed.
I am not sure if anyone else has experienced the joy of getting this lovely cough, cold or flu bug that is making the rounds? Let me tell you it is super fun! You can lose your voice, cough for days, have your nose be completely stuffed, but then start running like mad at the drop of a hat. Do you see how fun this all could be? I actually was sent away from my job as working with food this type of illness is less than desirable as you can imagine ( teehee ). This gave me 3 whole days off, which would be the most I have had in about 3 months. Now that I am back to work I will have 11 days before a day off. Hopefully I slept my way thru the worst of the bug : )
Glad to be back blogging with everyone.
songs
2007-02-21
Let me start by saying while I have absolutely NO musical talent what so ever I love music. I was raised in a an environment where music was an everyday part of my life. I consider songs and the simple sounds of music to be the very soundtrack of my life. Do others of you feel this way? Do you hear a song and have it transport you to a different time or place in your life? Think about a special person perhaps? There are songs that I will always identify with a certain person. A great example of this is "Three Little Birds" by Bob Marley, my dad would play me that song when I was sad as a child. Now whenever I hear it, it just makes me smile and think of him. Then there are the sweet songs that make you think of an ex boyfriend or lover...and they might not even be the most romantic of songs, but they were YOUR song! I love how someone has taken the power of the written word, put it with melody, music, etc and made it so that it is shared with the world in a way that just a poem or short story might not have?
Ok, that is my ramble for today...may you all have the joy of hearing a song that makes you get a smile today!
:)
HM or not? High Maintenance that is....
2007-02-20
So recently a lighthearted debate was started amongst my friends about my being a high maintenance gal or not. My one guy friend asserted that I was to which I stood holding my phone in shock going
" NO WAY!!! "
You see he lives in Vegas and we were having a friendly phone chat about our fun times that day. Something I said about what I did made him say I was HM, to which I took offense. He said he didn't mean it in a bad way at all though. Now to me there isn't really a good way to be HM? It implies being of a difficult nature, harder to please...etc, right? He said that when he first met me, mind you this was back in HS as we have known each other that long, he thought I was a bit spoiled and HM. I said truly? and you still think that after all these years?
Yes, I am certainly very particular in the things in my life, but HM? Wow.
So, this started a whole debate amongst the whole circle of friends that were there with me at the bar that evening. Out of 10 of my friends...4 girls,6 guys the total was 8 not HM and 2 for yes. So, two of my guys friends say that because I am unfraid to ask for what I want...I am HM : )
Oh well then, I claim that title proudly...woohoo.
One person view of HM might be anothers view of becoming more assertive.
I choose to speak my mind, hopefully being mindful of others feelings as they are of mine also : )
Drinking
2007-02-19
Ok, Let me preface this by saying I do enjoy the taste of alcohol now and again myself. Now having said that...I work in a bar. Therefore I tend to see people at their VERY worst. It honestly hurts my heart sometimes to see people come INTO a bar so F'D up that they can barely stand and try to get more to drink?!?@!
Please tell me why this has become the cool thing for the young kids to do. I do remember tossing back a couple shots & beers in college, but these kids start with shots, finish with shots and oh yeah have shots in between...they skip everything else now! They get pissed as heck too when you say that they are cut off...what do you mean I am drunk? I can still stand up, can't I? haha
I love my job...really I do!!!
teehee
It is over!!!!
2007-02-15
Ok, so I had the worlds longest day yesterday. I ended up working a double at the restaurant. 11-4:30 as a server, home to where I am house sitting to change clothes, eat, feed the dogs then back to work 6-9:30 as a bartender. Sound fun? Oh boy was it!! People who are out to have a romantic sweet special meal for valentines all want to order glass of wine or fancy speciality cocktails. IF I never make another one of our crazy martinis again I would be happy. One of the owners of our rest. decided less than a week ago to roll out a new martini list....18 martinis deep. With muddled fruit even. Have to say though, I made $200 so far without tips from some of the servers who worked last evening, so I am going to say that while I did not receive much in the way of love of Valentines from my friends...I got a lot of green paper type of love from my customers : )
Hope everyone else had a great day!
So is it a happy day? I say yes!
2007-02-14
So it is Valentines day once again. Once again I am single on this day that celebrates love among couples. However, I have decided that I am not going to look upon this as a reason to be upset or unhappy that I myself am not part of a couple. Rather to celebrate all of the love that I DO have in my life. My family and friends who are with me when those romantic relationship are not. The people who hold my hand when my silly boyfriends break my tender lil heart. My friends who remind my of what made me fall for that boy in the first place and show me the good parts of the relationship so I can look for the best of each one and hopefully find better in the future.
So for those of you single folks out there, think of the possiblities and remember the love that does already exist in your life.
happy valentines day
spring cleaning....
2007-02-13
oh yes it is SO that time of year again...
I live in what is the cutest, yet tiniest cottage by the sea. A small one bedroom, perfect for just me. However I have this silly little tendency to gather items that I do not need....or do not use...thus every once and a while I must weed thru and get RID of STUFF!!!!
So every 3-4 months I do what I call my purge ( haha ) I go thru the closets, if I can't remember when I wore it last it goes. If a picture never made it up unto the wall it goes. May I just say that my friends LOVE this...they all get fabulous stuff from my cleaning parties! This time though the big thing is that I am dying to actually paint my walls and put new carpet down in my house....so I am looking at it all with new eyes. Furniture and pictures, everything. Most I love, but a few small things will make it way out to the thrift store or friends. It feels quite freeing actually, like letting go of stress to a small degree?
Speaking of stress, my car is getting fixed by way of my mom! She called last evening and said she would send me money to fix it. This makes it much easier than me waiting for my tax refund to come back in before getting the darn work dome on it...yippee!!!
well off to finish cleaning...have a great day all!!!

friends, love & valentines....
2007-02-12
So, yet again it is that time of year...Valentines Day. Where couples are to buy sappy gifts for their loved ones to show they care. While single people dread the days coming.I decided that this year even though I am quite decided single I would celebrate that fact! I sent valentines out to all my friends....single or not. Bought myself a lil treat, new bedding ( woohoo, I know ) .
A local bar is having a anti valentines party...there thought is that single people go to bars...couples go to restauarants! It is a great point. I myself actually hate this day, even when I have a boyfriend. The idea of someone dictating when you should recieve a gift just seems silly. I would so rather get a lil thing of flowers for no reason on a random day. Or be taken for a picnic because he thought it would be fun? So hoping that all of my shoutpost friends be you single or taken have a fabulous Valentines day!!

car + money = stress
2007-02-07
So, my car that I bought just about 6 months ago to have a decent car while I saved for the down on a "new" car decided it wanted to die on me. Basically it had a leak in the radiator that we didn't notice until it did some serious damage. So now my choice is to sepnd as much as I paid for the car to have it work right....or sell it for 1/3 of what I paid for it for parts!
I so hate dealing with crap like this...I have the world's worst luck with cars...makes me never want to own one again!
thanks for letting me vent!
english beat
2007-02-05
So Sat. eve went and say English Beat at a local bar. It rocked, Dave wakeling still knows how to put out a great show!! The only issue I had at all was the older crowd that thought they would get a lil pushy and touchy on the limited dance area. My butt & boobs got quite a bit of "accidental" contact...almost to the point of me wanting to punch someone. I behaved though and only shoved them towards the "mosh pit " haha
Makes me wanna go to a bunch more shows now...hope we get lots more good stuff soon!
weddings and funerals
2007-02-04
So I attendted a memorial service yesterday afternoon for a local guy who was friends with my brother.
He was a happy go lucky guy that I remember as always smiling, happy with life and making those around him feel the same way. The saddest part of the day to me though besides seeing his devestated family was how the only time that all of the old group gets together is for a wedding or service like we were at Sat.
These are people who have been friends for the past 15-25 years, but it takes these type of events to gather them all.
The memorial itself was beautiful. Some family and friends shared stories of him and how he touched their lives. Then all of the surfers in the group ( and there are a lot ) paddled out and did a circle. The rest of us walked out on the pier and threw roses into the water. His brother and a couple others scattered his ashes and said a prayer.
Just really made me think about all of my friends and family.
You need to treasure each & every moment.
Know that even if you do not think so, you touch the lives of others.
Be thankful for all your blessings and let go of the negative as life really is much to short to dwell upon the negatives.
Love and Blessings to all
